SAVE THE AIR AT SPE!
SPARE THE AIR ANTI-IDLING CAMPAIGN
Did you know that because of their developing lungs and their higher breathing rates, children are much more susceptible to air pollution including from vehicle exhaust? Another fact from the Environmental Protection Agency is that car exhaust contains air toxics that are known to worsen asthma, cause cancer and respiratory problems, and lead to other serious health issues.
That's why your school Green Team is joining together with the local Sustainable Schools program and the Spare the Air education campaign to encourage all drivers to turn off their idling engines after 30 seconds, unless traffic safety demands otherwise.
If you need to drive to pick up your child from school, please consider parking and walking up to the school grounds. That can give you a chance to take a breathe of fresh air and visit with other parents and friends too. If you are waiting in a pickup lane, please turn off your engine unless you are actively driving forward.

Candy Collection
120 pounds were sent with letters to a military Base in Afganistan.
12 Awards were handed out for Halloween costumes.

December 14th Need to plan activities.
This will be a fundraiser for the red cross.
Need students to make posters on Friday before school
Help for the Animal Shelter
Fill a cup feed a pup. Sent them out today and turn them in next Tuesday.
Class with the most money gets a prize.
Student Council needed to help with Holiday Craft Fair
Saturday December 1st. Santa pictures. Help get kids in line and take pictures.

Green Team Report
Green team report-talking about compost and party packs. Not very many classes used party packs correctly. Need to support with better information to teachers.
Party packs were not used correctly. 3 out of the 25 party packs were used not used correctly. People didn’t know were the compost bin was.
Renewable Energy Lab?
The Green team is discussing with Mrs. Stoddard to convert the Pioneer house to an energy lab.
The school house should be made into a renewable energy room.
NO PAPER DAY NOV 15
Thursday is no paper day. No loose paper. You can only use math journals. Use boards.

Nov 30. Next spirit day- pink day bring a dollar to wear pink.
2 awards the class that wear the most pink and donates the most money.

Tooth brushes too, sort the candy between hard candy and chocolate

Other ideas for Sprirt days – national PJ day , art day, dr.suess day, color wars, no talking day walk around with a white board, no paper day
Green team makes school greener
* Get reusable water bottles get a swan neck water fountain for water bottles so that it doesn’t spred germs
* Logo contest for water bottles and t-shirts sell them in the school store. Small water bottles
Logo t-shirt starting soon

1. 8X11 sheet of paper
2. Use only 3 colors
3. Must be original artwork
4. Must include illustration and slogan
5. All entries due to library by Nov.13
